Harpeth Valley Hound Dogs

Harpeth Valley Elementary School has been recognized by the state of Tennessee as a Reward School. This status means HVES is one of the top performing schools in the state.

Additionally, we consistently meet our AMO (annual measurable objectives), or goals set by the state. This is due to the great work by our teachers, students, staff, and families!

Harpeth Valley prides itself on achieving high academic standards for all students. Harpeth Valley has been recognized as a Reward school by the state of Tennessee, and we have ranked among the top elementary schools in the district. Additionally, Harpeth Valley has been named a Model School of Recognition for our implementation of our Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program.  

Harpeth Valley teachers are masters of their craft, constantly looking for new and innovative ways to enrich the curriculum and strengthen their instructional skills. They put student success and love of learning at the forefront of each day. But they don't act alone-parents are not only supportive of Harpeth Valley's enriched curriculum, but they also have ample opportunity to participate, whether directly in our classrooms or through a variety of active PTO committees.

Harpeth Valley offers a wide range of opportunities to extend learning beyond the standard Tennessee state curriculum. The PTO utilizes the school garden to host a Garden Club after school, and classroom teachers also incorporate the school garden into classroom lessons. Each year our 4th-grade students present the "Wax Museum," the culmination of an extensive study of an important historical figure chosen by the student. Students dress up as their historical figure and share information in a first-person account.

All students are also encouraged to track their reading through Beanstack as a means to encourage goal setting and increase their love of reading. Harpeth Valley also offers GATE, the district's program for gifted and talented learners.
